Portage Central Baseball Boosters Meeting Minutes

Members Present: Robin Hook- President (Sr.), Rick Beauregard – Vice President (Jr.), Monty Porter – Secretary/Treasurer (So.), Bill Rauch – (Jr.), Kathy Irwin – (So.), Peggy Jones – (So.)

Members Absent: Roger Miller – (Sr.), Ken Popp – (Sr.), Randy Byrd – (Jr.),

Guests: Paul Schneider- Head Varsity Baseball Coach, Fred Oppel – Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach

Discussion/Action:

1. Minutes from the October 15, 2007 meeting were reviewed and approved.

2. Agenda for Membership meeting – Board had an active discussion on topics to be discussed at the upcoming general membership meeting to be held at the Portage Central Middle School Little Theatre on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. Topics for review at the meeting are:

• Background, History, Goals of PC Baseball Boosters
• Review of recent project completions
• Fundraising Efforts for 2007-08
• Website (www.portagecentralbaseball.org)
• Player/parent contact information
• Tax Exempt Status
• District Baseball Bid (hosting of tournament)
• Coach Schneider’s Update
• Other New Business

Monty Porter and Robin Hook agreed to develop a type written agenda for the meeting. Kathy Irwin agreed to develop a contact information sheet for collection of player/parent information. Hook agreed to bring copies of the Spirit Wear flyer. Porter agreed to update the Membership flyer and provide copies for the meeting. Coach Schneider agreed to bring a sign-up sheet as needed for Lawson clean-up (fundraiser) as well as to provide a policy statement with respect to Spring Break release time for players.

3. Other business - The issue of Portage Northern working toward and obtaining permission for a freshman baseball team was raised. Following much discussion, being sensitive to the need for Coach Schneider to work with Dr. Edlund and Dr. Albertus on the issue, a motion was made by Porter, seconded by Rauch, the PC baseball boosters support the concept of a freshman baseball team and agree to financially support such a team in an amount to be determined based upon available booster funding. Motion approved: 6-0. Coach Schneider indicated he would keep in conversation with Dr. Edlund, and report back to the Board as to the issues related to the addition of a freshman baseball team.

4. Next meeting - A meeting time for a December meeting was not established.
