Discussion/Action

Meeting Minutes: January meeting minutes were approved.   

 

Budget Update: Pobuda provided financial report and reported a current balance of $10,113.37.  Pobuda noted that the check to SPLL ($405) in September is still outstanding.  Porter presented a 2011 budget document along with a player fee worksheet and entertained a reduced player fee if PCBB takes responsibility for gate receipts and in turn gets profits.  This decision was tabled until Coach checks on details including Spring passes.    

 

Website: Templeton provided update and reported minimal activity but is prepared for increased activity as the season approaches. 

 

Coach’s Update:

·         Scoreboard – Repairs in process in FL with an estimated cost of up to $3,000 for repairs and completion by April 10th.

·         Uniforms – Portage Athletic Foundation (PAF) will contribute $600 toward purchase of pants (estimated total cost $1875). 

·         Batting Cage (right field side) – Porter will contact Matt Janicke regarding building frame.  Coach will check to see if PAF funds will purchase net.

·         Organizational “sign-up” meeting for players will be Wednesday, March 2nd at 3:15pm in High School cafeteria.  Templeton will add announcement to website.

·         Tryouts will be March 14, 15 and 16 (if needed) with Frosh/JV 5pm-7pm and Varsity 7pm-9pm in the Stable.  Templeton will add to website.

·         Parent meeting will be Wednesday, March 16, 7:00pm in Central Middle School’s Little Theatre.  Pat Schneider will reserve room.  Templeton will add announcement to website.  Porter presented draft agenda for meeting.

·         Indoor pitching mound purchase; PAF will not fund this purchase.  Coach will order soon.

·         2011 Schedule – Coach provided copy of Varsity schedule.  Schaefer reported that JV and Frosh schedules are posted on High School website.  Templeton will update website with schedules.

 

Spirit Wear: No update

 

Spring Field Clean-up: Date was changed to March 27, time TBD, with April 9 &/or 10 as back up dates if needed.

 

Fundraisers:

·         Lawson Cleaning – Additional date still may be added during playoffs

·         Basketball Concessions – one more date in March

·         Fence Sign Sponsor renewal letters have been sent.  Porter shared example of what was sent.  Porter will email template documents to all Board members who can help recruit new sponsors.

·         MLB Raffle – Coach Ampersee has vouchers from Squires; other prizes are in process and more info will be available at parent meeting.

·         Membership Drive – Coach will provide list of previous rosters and Porter will get recent years from Kathy Irwin. 

·         Restaurant night – Porter will attempt to arrange a Penn Station night.

·         Gate fees – decision on whether or not to do this was tabled pending further details from Coach.

·         Peeler/Discount Cards & ESPN magazine sales – Krill reported on peeler card options and ESPN magazine sales.  Board agreed both options may be good but need further discussion regarding when to do them and logistics.  Krill will request a fundraising kit for the ESPN option.

·         Youth Clinic dates March 19 & 20.  Players will work the clinic.

·         Baseball concessions – Schaefer reported there will not be pickles this year. L  Board approved purchase of a new coffee maker/dispenser at an approximate cost of $75.

 

Team Banquet:  Tentative date of June 7th.  Porter will check with Country Club and Schaefer/Laura McCoy will contact Cityscape as an alternative location.  Schaefer agreed to take responsibility for the banquet.  Date and location will be determined at next board meeting prior to the Parent meeting.
