Meeting Minutes: June meeting minutes were approved.
Budget Update: Pobuda provided financial report and reported an active balance of $12,178, though the bank shows higher balance. Pobuda is investigating the difference. Everything has been paid to date with exception that we are still waiting on the invoice for flag poles. Porter stated that a 2010 calendar year budget year to date report will be available at a future meeting to assist in preparing for 2011 budget.
Website: Porter reported that the website had been updated with the announcement that Ryan Krill has committed to Michigan State University.
Coach’s Update: Porter reported that SPLL pays gym rental each year for tryouts but does not charge PC Baseball anything for the use of fields for freshman team. This year we paid rental fee for SPLL and will work on process to cover cost in future years in exchange for continued use of field at SPLL. Discussion continued regarding broken scoreboard. Porter will get details to McCoy who will check on a service in Chicago that may be able to help. Porter will get model information to Pobuda who will get info out on a listserv to all school districts in MI to see if there is anyone that might be able to help. Coach Schneider may have info regarding cost of new board. Porter reported that the team benches in dugouts need refinishing, and that Mr. Ellis is willing to do the work if can provide the materials. Board agreed to purchase materials. Discussion regarding condition of the pitcher’s mound and need to provide better regular maintenance after games/practices and budget to better upkeep. We are waiting for information from Coach Schneider and the groundskeeper. Krill reported that fence camps (yellow) cost $199 for 250ft and $44 for the installer (SPLL may have installer). Two sections are needed to cover fence from home plate down the sidelines.
Spirit Wear: Londry reported that next sale will be at November parent meeting and is considering ordering stock to sell at meeting or may do holiday order.
Gas Grill: Schafer reported that Boy’s Soccer is interested in splitting the cost of a new grill. The total cost $400 to be split ($200 each) with boy’s soccer. Board approved purchase.
Fall Baseball: Porter reported that the Maroons are trying to get two teams. Contact Chris Gates if interested. McCoy is coaching PC fall team, the Mavericks. They will practice one time per week and play games on Sundays. The anticipated cost is approximately $100. First practice is Sunday, 8/22, 4-6PM.
Fall Field Clean-up: Porter reported that date has not yet been scheduled.
Fundraising: Schneider/Porter will set dates and report back for Lawson Cleaning. Board discussed possible involvement with Summer Tournament organized by TPT out of South Bend. We would need volunteers to care for field and operate concession stand for Thursday-Sunday tournament. Some concern was expressed about feasibility given summer baseball schedules for boys. Porter reported that the MLB raffle program has gone well and Kathy Irwin will help coordinate next year. There was discussion about other fund raiser options including; “Eat out night” (Penn Station, Qudoba, Steak & Shake, Wendy’s, Noodles, etc.) and team gets percentage of proceeds; Pop can drive is possibility especially around holidays or right after Super bowl; Discount Cards like Football sells–Krill will find out details.
Other Business: Londry provided pictures for sponsors; Pobuda & Porter will send thank you notes and include photos. Board discussed establishing official 501c3 nonprofit status in order to generate tax deductible donations; McCoy will have information at next meeting.
